Existing navigation apps prioritize the fastest route, ignoring safety factors such as lighting, crowd density, police presence, or past harassment reports. As a result, women lack reliable information to make safe travel decisions. Many safety apps are either too localized, lack real-time inputs, or are not user-friendly. There is a critical need for a practical, city-aware, safety-scored navigation system that helps women choose the safest route, not just the shortest one, and provides reliable emergency support when required.
SafePath provides real-time safe route guidance by combining crowdsourced incident reports, public safety data, and trusted location mapping. It highlights well-lit and monitored areas and offers offline SOS alerts, ensuring safe and informed travel decisions for women.
Primary users include women college students, working professionals, night-shift workers, and solo travelers. Secondary customers include universities, hostels, ridesharing companies, co-working spaces, and NGOs focused on women’s safety. City police departments and municipal “Safe City” programs can also adopt SafePath for public safety improvement and awareness initiatives.
